Fun Fact Friday! #180

Dun dun dun dun *crash* duuun *crash* dun dun dun duuuun duun

That’s my text interpretation of the famous Star Wars opening theme. Three guesses as to the content of this weeks Fun Fact! he he

I have seen Star Wars VII – The Force Awakens, twice now. Once was on a Tuesday directly following a weekend of marathoning Episodes I-VI. Admittedly, I was a bit raw from the Star Wars overload and emotionally unprepared, especially thanks to the new edit at the end of Star Wars VI – Return of the Jedi. True fans know what I’m talking about!

At the second viewing this past week, I was a bit more desensitized. What can I saw – I’m a softie!

That personal fact extends to todays, #180 fun fact, a truth that warmed this sensitives heart. Credit to website Kick Ass Facts for this:

In a real-life parallel to the film Fanboys (2009), Mark Hamill and John Boyega (Finn) successfully lobbied director J.J. Abrams to allow Star Wars fan Daniel Fleetwood to see the film before official release, as Fleetwood had been diagnosed with terminal cancer, and was not expected to live to see the film’s actual release date. Fleetwood was shown the film at a screening in his home, after Disney agreed. Fleetwood died on 10 November, 2015.

Some beautiful tributes were paid via social media from cast members to other fans alike. Check it out here.
